Its that time of the year again when we have an excuse to spoil ourselves, take a break from our usual chores and have a little fun. The spiritual purpose of Christmas has in time become blurred. One thing though has not changed, it is still a time for families to come together and spend a little time with each other.
But in this time of merry, take time to think about the less fortunate in society, will they know its Christmas?
The Internaly Displaced Persons still living in camps seemingly forgoten by their country three years on,will they have anything to celebrate? Even as the Hegue beacons for the suspected masterminds, the wheels of justice are turning too slowly for the IDP's for them there cannot be any feeling of justice if they are still living in camps.
The prisoners in correction facilities that are more like places of torture and purnishment, will they be served a special dish today? Will those in isolation be allowed to bask in the warmth of the sun? Or will it go past like any other day?
The Street children, and the ever present street families, will they know its christmas?
As you celebrate today, spare a thought for the less privileged, if only you make one of them smile you will have made a big impact on society, Merry Christmas!
